Eye Candy @ The The Westin Maui Resort

As the restaurant chef of Relish Burger Bistro, Jennifer Evetushick has successfully incorporated island-farmed ingredients such as Kula onions from upcountry Maui into the restaurant’s menu. She also introduced a healthier option by inviting customers to enjoy a burger “knife & fork” style, a gluten-free alternative served bun-less on a bed of island greens complemented by sweet potato fries. A first in Hawaii, Relish Burger Bistro was introduced at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa by Starwood Hotels & Resorts. The concept was to bring local dining experiences into the resort whereby Chef Evetushick worked closely with resort director of food & beverage cum executive chef Garret Fujieda to source local flavors and partner island farmers to incorporate farm fresh ingredients such as tomatoes and fresh island herbs in the restaurant’s menu.

“As chefs, we occupy the most interesting part of anyone’s vacation or lifestyle, EATING!  The general public values our opinions on where to acquire “the best” of any particular product.  The more we promote local farmers, the more interest they receive and products they sell.  It’s definitely a win-win symbiosis. Plus, it is our responsibility as chefs to support island sustainability. Here in Hawaii, we have the good fortune to live in a year round growing climate.  We also have access to some of the most exotic produce in the world.   These include Kula strawberries at Relish Burger Bistro. Similarly, we purchase at least 60 cases of Maui Gold pineapples on a daily basis to be used in our dishes,” says Chef Evetushick.

With over fifteen years of diversified experience within the culinary industry, she is most passionate about food and enjoys being creative with different flavors to enhance guests’ dining experience. Chef Evetushick attended the Art Institute of Philadelphia, School of Culinary Arts and is very proud to have been the recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award in her graduating class. Her culinary career includes being a Pastry Chef, Catering Chef and Executive Chef at Haili’imaile General Store in Maui, Hawaii. Her leisure pursuits include cooking, reading, and researching new recipes. She also enjoys boxing and stand-up paddling.
