Beginning Sunday, July 22, 2018, Maui Food Technology Center (MFTC) and Maui Street Eatz will present a new weekly event on the Valley Isle called the “Maui Sunday Market.”
The market will be held on Sundays, from 4 pm to 8 pm, in the Kahului Shopping Center parking lot fronting Kaahumanu Avenue, between Burger King and Maui Style Market. The event will be open to the general public and will showcase island vendors (crafters, artisans, food purveyors, and more); entertainment; food trucks; and Hawaiian Cultural traditions and practices. Public admission and parking is free.
According to MFTC President, Luana Mahi, “We’re excited to be offering this new island activity! Not only will this first-time event attract visitors and residents alike, but it will also shine the spotlight on our hardworking entrepreneurs in an effort to grow their businesses. The Maui Sunday Market is truly a collaborative effort. From Maui Street Eatz securing many of the food trucks to our awesome volunteers who will be putting in tons of hours to ensure the event’s success – we are all working together to spread the word that Maui is no ka oi!”
“This is Maui’s opportunity to shine as the first Hawaii port of call for Norwegian Cruise Lines, and the Maui Sunday Market offers a first great impression,” shared Event Coordinator, Kaui Kahaiali‘i. “We look forward to our family, friends, and extended island ‘ohana having another great place to eat, shop and hang out.”
Matt Laundrie from Maui Street Eatz expresses, “We are excited to bring you a weekly rotation of over 10 of Maui’s best food trucks and food vendors. We have 10 out of 10 for this launch on the 22nd and received a huge response from the food truck community. Everyone loves the food trucks on Maui and they are becoming a staple of the Maui lifestyle. We are honored to be working with the Maui Food Technology Center to help Hawaiian-based businesses thrive.”
The Maui Sunday Market is supported by the County of Maui Mayor’s Office of Economic Development.
