KAPALUA, MAUI, HI – April 19, 2018 – The newly renovated and eco-friendly Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua resort invites guest and locals alike to partake in various Earth Day initiatives and activities taking place on Sunday, April 22, 2018 and beyond. Recognized as a Hawaii Certified Green business – one that strives to operate in an environmentally and socially responsible manner – The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua will be expanding their already impressive sustainable measures with the addition of new environmentally-friendly practices.
Taking place on Earth Day, volunteers are encouraged to join as the resort revamps their on-property organic garden, replanting it with a variety of herbs, fruits, and vegetables, including an abundant of basil varieties, as well as diverse mint plants, including pineapple, orange and ginger mint, all grown overlooking the Pacific Ocean and island of Molokai. The garden compost will be derived from hotel kitchen waste, the primary source of sustainable green energy utilized to grow healthy herbs and vegetables. The entire garden will be scientifically directed to ensure a maximum organic blend of nutrients present in the produce for the valued resort guests. The garden also serves as a learning center, promoting various methods of sustainable horticulture to guests, schools, and the public.
