About The Artist
A Native New Yorker, Sandra had the opportunity to see the world from a multicultural vantage point, one she has always valued. That was one of the reasons Sandra and her husband finally settled down in Maui in 2007, after
spending every summer on the island since 1990. Maui was the perfect island.
Sandra studied painting and photography at Cooper Union in NYC and Art Therapy at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. It wasn’t until she came to Maui was she able to put some of that knowledge to use after 36 years as an educator. Spending time with the whales and honu brought her peace and awe at the wonders of nature, thus, creating the inspiration to photograph the beauty and movement of these animals in their environment. The journey started with her best friend and husband Martin, but the stars have her continuing with her faithful dog Mana.
